This is an opportunity for artists / collectives who specialise in sculpture and are interested in developing their practice through working with people in diverse settings in the community.

Artists will be paired with one of YST’s community partners to develop a sculpture project to be delivered in May and June 2018. Each artist/ collective will lead and deliver a minimum of seven half day sessions.

The approach:

  • This project will offer an opportunity for an artist/collective to develop their practice as part of a collaboration with individuals from YST’s community partners
  • This initiative aims to create the space and conditions for people involved to experience sculpture-making and thinking
  • Each artist / collective will engage with a broad range of people. The age and the number of the participants will vary dependent on the project.
  • Sessions will take place at either the community centre / setting or YST gallery.
  • Each artist will receive mentoring support from Yorkshire Sculpture International’s Engagement Curator

  • April: Project brief finalised with artist and partners, activity planning
  • May and June: Delivery
  • July: Public presentation and evaluation
